Understanding Myopia Management

Myopia, or nearsightedness, is a common refractive error where distant objects appear blurry while close objects can be seen clearly. It often begins in childhood and can progressively worsen over time. Managing myopia early is crucial in preventing severe vision problems later in life, such as retinal detachment, glaucoma, and myopic maculopathy.

Services we offer:

Multifocal Contact Lenses: Specially designed contact lenses that provide clear vision at all distances and help reduce the progression of myopia in children and teenagers.

Atropine Eye Drops: Low-dose atropine eye drops have been shown to slow myopia progression in children. We provide careful monitoring and dosage adjustments to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Orthokeratology (Ortho-K): Custom fitted contact lenses worn overnight to gently reshape the cornea, allowing for clear vision during the day without the need for glasses or daytime contacts. This non-surgical treatment can effectively slow the progression of myopia. (Not available yet, but coming soon!)

Lifestyle and Environmental Advice: Guidance on lifestyle changes and visual habits that can help manage myopia progression, such as increasing outdoor activities and reducing prolonged near work.
