Our Team

  • Lynn Wicks

    Office Manager

I have called the Saugatuck-Douglas area home for almost 60 years! After temporarily moving away, I returned in 1983. For me, “there’s no place like home” and I am here to stay!

What can I say? My adventure in eye care began over 35 years ago, yet I still get excited about new eyewear styles and new technology! The patients we see, year after year, have become more like family. And the opportunity to meet new people keeps the job interesting!

When I’m not at work, there are so many things I enjoy doing. Bowling during the winter and golfing in the summer. I also enjoy cooking, reading, rock hunting, bird watching and gardening. I especially enjoy trips “up North” in Michigan and since my son has graduated and settled in Traverse City I have a great excuse to head north! What a beautiful state we live in!

All in all – life is truly good. “Every day is a gift.” You’ll see this sign hanging in our office and I truly believe that!

  • Vikki Jager

    Optician

My optical career started quite by chance in 1993. By about the 10 year mark, working at an optical chain store, I realized I wanted to help patients with my knowledge and experience in a more complete way. I no longer wanted to just “sell glasses.” There’s more to this profession and I wanted to grow.

Shortly thereafter, my resume and cover letter landed on Dr. Annis’ desk, and even though he wasn’t actually looking to add to his staff, he called me in for an interview. I told him all the reasons why he needed me and he bought it… hook, line and sinker (at least that’s how I role-played it in my head).

This small-town practice truly is the perfect place for me. I’ve gained so much more reputable experience, and I adore the clientele. Also, working alongside my very good friends every day couldn’t be any more fun!

Outside of the office I spend time with my best friend and husband, Tom, at our home at Gun Lake. Together, we’ve done our best to raise three grown children, who continue to impress us as young adults. Since we now have an empty nest, we’re able to enjoy more time camping and gardening. I also spend a lot of time in the kitchen cooking for our family and friends. God continues to remind us of just how short and precious our existence is, so we spend every moment “Livin’ each day” to the fullest.

  • Emily Hernandez

    Optometric Technician

Hola! I am the bilingual one in the office. I speak fluent Spanish which really comes in handy. My favorite thing about the practice is getting to know all the patients. I always try my best to help them receive the best care possible. Being a part of the team has introduced me to a new “family” here. Every day is a new opportunity to learn something from our doctors, my co-workers, and/or even from our patients. There’s hardly ever a dull moment and it never feels like I am actually on the job. I just really do enjoy it.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, doing everything outdoors. Whether that’s discovering new trails that lead to Lake Michigan or just being spontaneous. I am always down for an adventure!

    Optometric Technician

Hi! I am the newest staff member in the office, joining the team in October 2023! With the help of some amazing co-workers, patients, and our doctors, I have felt right at home here. Art Coast Eye Care really has become a second family to me.

I grew up in Berrien County, but after relocating, I fell in love with this area and the people in it. In my free time I enjoy reading and painting. I am also trying to make gardening a new hobby, but you could say my thumb isn’t quite green just yet.
